Vagbiome Detective

Exploring vaginal microbiome testing

Practitioner webinar: You have vaginal microbiome panel results for a client, now you are unsure what they even mean...

Sound familiar?

The vaginal microbiome is a unique ecological site. Interpreting the relevance of results requires an understanding of the foundational concepts of the microbiome in addition to an understanding of commonly seen presentations and patient specifics. It also requires you to understand the type of testing you have ordered and what (if any) limitations it may have.

In this space there are many versions of healthy and unhealthy and sometimes they look the same when we look only at the microbial patterns.

Common questions you might be struggling with include:

  • Does my client need all the lactobacilli types?
  • What does it mean if they have high levels of BV associated bacteria and the pH is normal?
  • It seems it is all lactobacilli- what does that mean clinically?
  • Is it possible that is causing my client's symptoms?
  • Why doesn't that show Candida when the client has all the symptoms?
  • I think the results show something but my client has been told by their doctor that it is all normal- what is happening?
  • Can I modulate that without antibiotics?
  • How do I make judgements relating to the results and what my client is presenting with?

By the end of the webinar you will be able to:

  • Explore currently available testing
  • Identify Community State Types (CST) and link results with foundational microbiome concepts
  • Identify patterns and link to patient specifics to inform clinical decision making
  • Practice a whole concept interpretation that moves away from a good and bad guy approach

This webinar will touch on some treatment interventions- however this is not the focus of the webinar

Presented by Naturopath and PhD Candidate (in Vaginal Health) Moira Bradfield Strydom (Intimate Ecology), in conjunction with Veeforme.
